Jodi Womack | No More Nylons
By Charlene Ross, Friday, July 1, 2011Jodi Womack probably never imagined that her career as a high school librarian would lead her to bringing thousands of women together to build their businesses, but in a roundabout way that is exactly what happened.
Jodi and her husband Jason –a librarian and a high school teacher- noticed that many of their students lacked organizational and life skills so they started an after school seminar to teach their students these very skills.
Putting together these seminars for students eventually led Jodi to becoming the event coordinator for the David Allen Company, a work-life management company that offers organization services to companies and individuals.
In January of 2007, after working at the David Allen Company for seven years, Jodi and Jason decided to start their own consulting firm, The Womack Company. Their company works with businesses both big and small to create a custom workplace system that maximizes productivity.
But it is Jodi’s desire to reach out to and bring together the women in her community that makes her so skirt!
In 2009 Jodi brought together thirteen women on a Tuesday night and her organization No More Nylons was born.
“It was really effortless for me to bring these women together because Ojai is a small town and I know a lot of people. I knew that this networking event was a success when my accountant told me that she picked up three new clients that night. So really out of eleven people when you exclude her and me, she found three new clients – that’s amazing!”
The name No More Nylons definitely puts a smile on people’s faces. Womack came up with the name because she remembers both of her parents changing out of their “work clothes” so they could relax at home. No More Nylons symbolizes getting out of the work women have to do and into the work they love to do without the restrictions and pressures of the traditional workplace model.
“I really wanted to create a networking event for women only that was much more like a cocktail party. I wanted to create the type of event that I would actually like to go to.”
The free socials are held at a different restaurant or business every month. There is no RSVP, no sales pitch or presentation, just women connecting with other women while promoting the work they love to do.

At No More Nylons socials there are no snooty ladies allowed!
What started as thirteen friends of Womack’s on a Tuesday night has turned into a monthly staple in Ojai, often drawing upwards of 100 women. This year No More Nylons started holding monthly mixers in Ventura/Oxnard, New York, and London.
“Jason and I travel to New York and London for business and when women at the companies we consult for found out about the No More Nylons events they wanted me to help them start chapters in their cities.”
Jodi is creating a manual for women to start their own No More Nylons because she believes that women know who the go to people are in their towns and they know how to connect people.
“Bonds are made in the strangest ways but once you make that bond no one can touch it. My motto is We’re better together.”
