Detour signs, a part of life's journey

Spending lots of time behind the wheel has led me to my own fair share of detour signs. It’s easy to decide which way to turn when I am in my own city, but come across one in a new neighborhood; and I panic. Life is much like this for most of us. We like to ponder, plan, dream, and then take that first step in our desired direction. When we are caught off guard it can take us right to our knees. Now what? Could it be that these unplanned experiences are supposed to be where we stop and take a look around and see if we are still even on the same path we started on? Maybe we’re so busy just trying to get there that we forget why we were going in the first place. I have recently decided that when I’m derailed I should use this time to look at what is in front of me and assess. Do I need to readjust, edit out the unwanted or unnecessary? Perhaps it’s my moment to enjoy how far I’ve come along the journey and then pick back up only the essential, reset the NAV and continue on my life’s journey.
